Daiana Menezes’ husband Rep. Benjo Benaldo allegedly attempted to commit suicide

Lira Dalangin-Fernadez of InterAksyon.com reported on Thursday evening, June 27, that Cagayan de Oro Representative Benjo Benaldo attempted to commit suicide. The report cited "sources from the House of Representatives." Benaldo is the husband of Brazilian model and television personality Daiana Menezes.

According to the report, Benaldo made the suicide attempt in his room in Congress. He was then brought to the New Era Hospital in Quezon City.

A few minutes after 9 p.m., Rep. Miro Quimbo posted a photo on Instagram, which showed House Speaker Sonny Belmonte at the hospital, waiting for word on Benaldo’s condition. Other reports say that Benaldo was conscious when he was brought to the hospital. GMA News Online’s Mark Merueñas tweeted: "Speaker Belmonte says Rep. Benaldo gave him a thumbs up while at the ER."
