P-Noy vows to see to modernization of Philippine Air Force before he steps down in 2016

The president said the government has allocated P75 billion in the next five years "for the upgrade of equipment and other related requirements of the armed forces."

Alexis Romero and Ding Cervantes of The Philippine Star report that President Benigno Aquino III vowed on Monday to modernize the Philippine Air Force (PAF) "through the purchase of new and modern aircraft from a P75-billion fund before he steps down from office in 2016."

 

According to the report, President Aquino said during his keynote address at the PAF's 66th anniversary that the government has allocated P75 billion in the next five years "for the upgrade of equipment and other related requirements of the armed forces." The President mentioned long-range patrol aircraft, combat utility helicopters, air defense radar and flight simulators as some of the equipment the government intends to acquire by 2016.
