Director Carlo J. Caparas ordered arrested for tax evasion, NBI confirms his arrest warrant is ready
They allege that he evaded paying taxes worth ₱101.8 million.
Tetch Torres-Tupas of Inquirer.net reports that "the Court of Tax Appeals has ordered the arrest of director Carlo J. Caparas" because he allegedly evaded paying taxes worth ₱101.8 million.
According to the report, "Caparas is facing a case for violation of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) for failing to file Value-Added Tax (VAT) Returns for the years 2006 to 2009." The National Bureau of Investigation has confirmed it has a copy of the warrant.
Caparas came under the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) scrutiny because of news reports alleging that he received P850.95 million from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) from 2006 to 2009 for two television shows he directed for the government agency. "In his defense, Caparas argued that the amount he received from PCSO was all ’net of taxes,’" the report said.
