Palawan ranked No. 1 in Travel + Leisure magazine "Top 10 Islands" list
Palawan snatches the "World’s Best Island" title for 2013 from tourist darling, Boracay.
GMA News Online reports that Palawan has replaced Boracay as the "World’s Best Island" for 2013, according to Travel + Leisure magazine.
The report explained that "Palawan led the top 10 islands as voted by Travel + Leisure readers" for the magazine’s "World’s Best Awards," with a score of 95.04 while Boracay slipped to the second spot with a score of 93.58. The white-sand beaches of Boracay was first included in Travel + Leisure’s list in 2011 and became number one in 2012. Palawan was only included in the list this year.
The report said Palawan is fast becoming a favorite tourist destination "with its majestic limestone cliffs, wondrous underwater scenes, breathtaking beaches, and eco-luxury resorts." Other islands that made it to the magazine’s 2013 list include Maui, Santorini in Greece, Koh Samui in Thailand, and Galapagos.
