Sen. Frank Drilon proposes removal of pork barrel
The senators want his colleagues to give up using their pork barrel completely.
ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Senator Franklin Drilon has proposed the removal of the priority development assistance funds (PDAF) of lawmakers "following reports that a certain businesswoman had plotted a P10 billion scam over the past decade using the pork barrel of senators and congressmen for ghost projects."
The report quoted Drilon as saying that anomalies such as the billion-peso scam "will be eliminated once the pork barrel is abolished." The lawmaker added that another alternative would be to limit the use of pork barrel to benefit certain types of institutions where these funds may easily be audited. Drilon suggested that congressmen and senators give their PDAF directly to hospitals and schools where their use can be easily monitored.
