Labuyo is strongest typhoon to hit PH this year, says PAGASA
What an ironic name.
ABS-CBNNews.com’s Shiela Reyes reports that "Typhoon Labuyo has intensified as it continues to threaten Northern Luzon, particularly the provinces of Aurora and Isabela."
The report noted: "As of 10 p.m. Sunday, August 11, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Labuyo was spotted at 160 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes and 110 kilometers east southeast of Casiguran, Aurora." The report also added that "in an earlier press conference, PAGASA officer-in-charge Vicente Malano said Labuyo is the ’strongest’ typhoon so far to hit the country this year."
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) had already declared a red alert on Sunday morning, August 11, over areas that would most be affected by Labuyo.
