Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile announces he’s in the hospital after plunder charges were filed against him
We have no words for this.
Christina Mendez of The Philippine Star reports that Senator Juan Ponce Enrile was rushed to the hospital a few days before charges were filed against him in connection with the P10 billion pork barrel scam.
According to the report, "the 89-year-old lawmaker has been hospitalized since Saturday at the Makati Medical Center after complaining of difficulty in urinating." In a statement, the senator said he is not involved in the scam and is ready to face the case filed against him by the Department of Justice (DOJ). "Let me make clear that I am innocent of the charges filed against me," Enrile said.
On Monday, September 16, the DOJ filed plunder charges against several lawmakers, including Senators Enrile, Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., and Jinggoy Estrada in connection with the scam allegedly masterminded by businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles.
