2 congressmen want to relocate PH capital, seat of government
They don’t say where they want to relocate.
Leila B. Salaverria of the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that "Representatives Gary Alejano and Francisco Ashley Acedillo of the Magdalo party-list have proposed the creation of a National Capital Commission to study the feasibility of relocating the country's capital as well as the permanent seat of the national government."
Alejano and Acedillo said that "while the national government has held office in Manila and the National Capital Region since 1976, the setting is far from ideal."
They pointed out: "Lack of urban planning as manifested by antiquated drainage systems, degraded air quality, faulty traffic management and the proliferation of illegal settlers make Metro Manila a place with only little space for development."
