NAIA Terminal 1 rehabilitation to start on December 1

Kris Bayos of Manila Bulletin reports: "The long overdue rehabilitation of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 would push through by December despite the anticipated increase in passenger arrivals due to the forthcoming yearend holidays."


The report noted: "Department of Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya announced that the civil works contract is due for awarding before the   end of the month and consequently, for the rehabilitation to start as scheduled on December 1."


The report likewise quoted Abaya, who said, "The main objective is to get NAIA Terminal 1 rehabilitated in time for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in 2015." The rehabilitation will reporrtedly cost P1.14 billion.
