Bill seeks to amend Solo Parents Act, wants to include additional benefits for single parents
Once in a while, we get a good law.
Ben Rosario of Manila Bulletin reports, "Gabriela Partylist Reps. Emmi de Jesus and Luzviminda Ilagan called on their colleagues to take swift action on House Bill 2914 to ensure additional benefits to single parents, that would include discounts for purchases of children's clothing, baby milk, food supplements, and medicines."
According to De Jesus and Ilagan, "an early decision by the Lower House will give HB 2914 a better chance of becoming a law."
HB 2914 seeks to amend Republic Act 8972 or the Solo Parents Act of 2000, which, as De Jesus and Ilagan pointed out, didn’t address the financial situation of single parents.
