Chillier mornings seen in January after temperature in Metro Manila hits 20.7 degrees Celsius
Getting out of bed just got more difficult.
Christopher Lloyd Caliwan of the Philippine News Agency (via Interaksyon.coom) reports that PAGASA has advised the public to expect chillier mornings in the coming weeks after the temperature in Metro Manila dropped to one of its lowest for this month on Monday morning (December 30), when it hit 20.8 degrees Celsius. Then, on Tuesday, December 31, Metro Manila’s temperature hit 20.7 degrees Celsius.
Pagasa weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the cooler temperature is an effect of the northeast monsoon or "hanging amihan," which blows into the country from Siberia starting mid-October.
Aurelio added that the northeast monsoon will continue to bring cold winds as it peaks from early January to mid-February. The coldest morning in Metro Manila this year was previously recorded on November 9 when the temperature dropped to 20.7 degrees Celsius between 5 a.m. to 6 a.m.
