Vice President Jejomar Binay, Miss World PH pageant director Cory Quirino want Miss World 2014 to be held in Manila
Will they get the organizers’ nod?
Matikas Santos of Inquirer.net reports that "Vice President Jejomar Binay and Miss World Philippines national director Cory Quirino are now pushing for the holding of the Miss World event in Manila for the first time after the country won in four major International pageants in 2013."
According to the report, Quirino submitted a proposal to Binay during her courtesy call to him on Thursday (February 6). The pageant director was accompanied by 2013 Miss World Megan Young, who also expressed her desire to have the Philippines host the prestigious beauty pageant this year.
Young said that should the plan push through, she would like the Miss World 2014 pageant to adopt the theme "Rebuilding" as tribute to the rehabilitation efforts being undertaken in the Philippines after typhoon Yolanda. Last year, the Philippines made history by becoming the first country to win in five major international beauty pageants.
