P-Noy says sorry to high school students from Tacloban for slow response after Yolanda

Aurea Calica of the Philippine Star reports that President Benigno Aquino III has apologized to several students from Tacloban City on Thursday (March 13) for the slowness of the government's response in the aftermath of typhoon Yolanda last November.

The report quoted the President as saying in a forum at Hope Christian High School in Manila that he was sorry the government could not act faster after the deadly storm. The school has "adopted" 180 students from Tacloban City and enabled them to continue their studies.

Aquino said he felt the need to visit the school after being informed that its students wrote him letters titled "My Best Piece of Advice" to "express their concern for fellow victims of Yolanda as part of an exercise in Journalism class."
