Sen. Ralph Recto wants names, photos of Philippines’ most wanted fugitives posted on Facebook, Instagram

We already have fake friends on Facebook, so real criminals wouldn’t make too much of a difference.

Ernie Reyes of reports that Senator Ralph Recto has proposed the creation of a public Facebook  account containing the names and photos of the Philippines' most wanted criminals so that the public might be informed about their identities.

The report quoted the senator as saying that law enforcement agencies should tap the power of social media to catch fugitives and other persons guilty of breaking the law. He said posting information on the country's most wanted criminals online would be more effective than putting them on posters that are only seen in a limited number of public places.

Aside from utilizing Facebook, Recto also broached the idea for authorities to use Instagram to publicize the mug shots of wanted persons, and upload the footage of criminals' illegal activities on YouTube so that netizens can view "what notorious criminals look like and what they do."
