"Thrill-seeking" Fil-Am teen nabbed for climbing to top of One World Trade Center in New York
He’s facing possible jail time for this even if he’s only 16.
ABS-CBN News correspondent Don Tagala reports that 16-year-old Filipino-American Justin Alexander Casquejo was arrested by the police in New York after he snuck past security guards and climbed to the top of the One World Trade Center, Manhattan's tallest building, even though the structure is supposed to be closed to the public.
The report, which was based on a CNN newscast, explained that Casquejo "found a way up through the scaffolding, climbed onto the sixth floor, took an elevator to the 88th floor and took the staircase up to the 104th floor." He climbed a ladder at the rooftop to reach the antenna. He supposedly stayed for two hours at the top of the building to take pictures of the view.
Casquejo, who was a self-described "thrill seeker," was caught by the authorities when "construction workers spotted him trying to leave the premises." The teenager might face imprisonment of up to one year for the criminal trespass charge filed against him.
