Can you stuff 66 birds into your pants? (One man managed to do it!)
It’s a foul fowl story.
Officials in Cuba’s international airport recently arrested a man-who was described only as a "resident of the United States"-because he tried smuggle 66 native birds out of the country.
But, wait, that’s not the craziest part of this story.
"According to the Juventud Rebelde newspaper, the man had stuffed the 66 Cuban Grassquits inside his ’low-slung’ pants," reports Agence France-Presse on ABS-CBNnews.com.
Apparently, the bulky attire of the "bird man" made customs officials suspicious.
The report didn’t explain how exactly the man got so many birds in his pants. We presume the poor creatures were sedated during the ordeal. We hope they all survived the trauma.
The report said that while the Cuban Grassquit "is not considered to be at risk of extinction, it is nevertheless protected under Cuban law."
