Reunion at Camp Crame: Ramos visits Enrile
Like a cheesy song: "Two old friends meet again/ Wearin’ older faces/ And talk about the places they’ve been."
In 1986, former President Fidel V. Ramos and Senator Juan Ponce Enrile and their supporters gathered at Camp Crame at the height of the EDSA People Power Revolution. Back then, Ramos was a general and Enrile was the Defense Minister. They had gone against then-President Ferdinand Marcos.
On Sunday afternoon, July 6, Ramos and Enrile were reunited at their so-called "EDSA refuge" when the former visited the latter at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital, which is located within Camp Crame.
ANC reports, "Enrile only allowed a few people to visit him, which included Ramos."
"My purpose was just to pay my respects, because this particular area was the scene of our work together, which was very successful during the 1986 People Power revolution," Ramos said.
Enrile has been under temporary confinement at the PNP General Hospital since July 4, after the Sandiganbayan issued an arrest warrant against him in connection with the plunder and graft chargesin relation to the pork barrel fund scam. In particular, he is being accused of plundering P172 million and faces 15 counts of graft.
