From mean to meek: Priest apologizes for shaming teen mom
Sometimes, it takes a viral video to make someone reflect on their sins.
ANC reports: "Catholic priest Romeo Obach has apologized to the 17-year-old single mother he berated during a christening ceremony last Sunday morning, July 6."
Images of Obach’s apology missive, which is typed on paper bearing his congregation’s letterhead, has been spread online. We took a screenshot of the image posted on the Sun.Star website.
Perhaps, the most unsettling line in Obach’s apology is this: "I only later realized how cruel my ways to educate and impart lessons for the said event."
Of course, he does say that he’s humbly asking for forgiveness. But we can’t help but wonder what it was that made him finally realize that he had been terribly cruel?
Meanwhile, in a statement posted on the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) website, the Redemptorist congregation said they were imposing sanctions on Obach and that they were conducting an "internal investigation" on the incident.
