JV says Manong Johnny should be allowed to play Bejeweled while in detention
It’s more than just a game to the 90-year-old senator.
ABS-CBNnews.com reports that on Wednesday, July 9, Senator Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito visited detained Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital in Camp Crame. Enrile, who is facing plunder and graft charges in connection with the pork barrel fund scam, has been confined there since July 4.
Ejercito and Enrile allegedly talked for 45 minutes. Ejercito chose not to visit his half-brother, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who was also detained in the same compound, specifically at the PNP Custodial Center. The brothers have not yet made peace over the fact that Ejercito had signed the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee report accusing Estrada of being involved in the pork barrel scam.
In any case, Ejercito later spoke about his encounter with Enrile. He also jokingly made a special request in behalf of his 90-year-old fellow senator. Ejercito said he hoipes Enrile would be allowed to use his iPad so he can play Bejeweled.
Ejercito was quoted as saying, "Palagay ko, sana payagan, kahit na walang WiFi. Kahit na makapaglaro lang sya ng Bejeweled, OK na siguro yun (I think they should allow him to have his iPad, even if there’s no WiFi. Just so he can play Bejeweled, I think that’s OK)."
Ejercito said that Enrile plays Bejeweled to keep his mind sharp.
