QC Mayor Herbert Bautista says I do support same-sex marriage

His city continues to wave the rainbow flag of love and happiness

During his State of the City Address on Tuesday, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista proudly claimed that the pro-LGBT ordinance he signed on October 1 is a gift to the city, not just the individuals the ordinance seeks to protect.

A report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer on Thursday also quoted the mayor saying that after watching another court in America recognizing same-sex marriage as legal, he looks forward to the day when Quezon City or perhaps even the entire country follows suit.

"Since I was a child in the entertainment industry, I was surrounded by [the LGBT community]. They are very talented people, so it's only right that they are given recognition," Bautista said, adding that his more vocal support to the community is in tune with the UN resolution that recognizes the rights of LGBT individuals signed two weeks ago.
