Senator Trillanes wants probe on the Iloilo Convention Center dropped

After the "dud" hearing on November 14, the Philippine Star reported on Monday that Senator Sonny Trillanes is proposing that the hearings on the Iloilo Convention Center be stopped-even if there’s one more witness willing to take the stand. An earlier report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer revealed that Senator Koko Pimentel is also in favor of foregoing another hearing.
"Even Mr. Mejorada candidly admitted that he has no evidence," Trillanes said over the weekend. In a dissenting opinion, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago said that the investigation should continue regardless of the quality of the statement of the first witness.
Senator Pimentel acknowledged that it is up to Senator TG Guingona to decide on the matter, but Senator Trillanes still wanted to make his case against another hearing. Senator Trillanes argued that the public might see the continuation of the investigation as a maneuver by the Binay camp, who, in turn, have been crying foul over the "friendlier" treatment to Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson and Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez.
