Malacañang addresses #NasaanAngPangulo memes, defends P-Noy’s absence during arrival of fallen PNP SAF men
Yet another P-Noy meme trends on social media
(SPOT.ph) President Benigno Aquino III received flak on Thursday when he "decided" to skip the arrival of the fallen Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) heroes in favor of attending a car factory inauguration. Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. clarified the semantics of "decided" and said that P-Noy did not choose one thing over the other. He merely followed his schedule.
Here’s what the Internet thought of that:
The President has previously declared January 30 as a National Day of Mourning and the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that he has "ordered" the public to pray on this day. P-Noy will also lead the necrological service for the PNP-SAF men, which Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said was the "best time" to be there.
"Our aim here is to ensure that the help gets to them. We are not preoccupied with image concerns," Coloma explained.
