Minors and seniors starting Wednesday can get vaccinated at the Manila Zoo, part of the local government's effort to boost inoculations in vulnerable sectors as the omicron variant drives a fresh surge.
Those looking to get vaccinated must first sign up for a free Manila Zoo ticket on its website. They will also be required to sign up in the Manila vaccination portal. Those who have not registered in the portal can do so at the zoo, but vaccinees are encouraged to sign up ahead.
Vaccinations are strictly by appointment and will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those aged 12 to 17 years old can get their first and second doses at the zoo. Senior citizens and adults can also get their jabs at the venue.
The initiative will run until Jan. 31, with 1,000 doses to be distributed per day.
The Manila Zoo was renovated and renamed to Bagong Manila Zoo, which had a soft opening on Dec. 30, 2021. While some areas have animas and have opened to visitors, there are still areas yet to open.
