DepEd Suspends Classes in Calabarzon from Jan. 17-29

Classes in all public schools in Calabarzon are suspended from Jan. 17 to 29, the Department of Education's regional office said Thursday, to help learners cope with the COVID surge.

The suspension covers Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon and Rizal and includes all activities, both physical and online for students and school personnel. Submission of requirements that fell during the suspension period must be moved to a later date, DepEd said.

The midyear break from Jan. 31 to Feb. 5 will still take place, extending the academic break to three weeks.

DepEd Calabarzon said public schools could also suspend classes and other activities depending on the COVID-19 risks in their respective areas.

Antipolo City also suspended classes in all levels, both face-to-face and virtual classes, in public and private schools from Jan. 17 to 29, said Jun-Andeng Ynares, executive assistant to the mayor, in a Facebook post on Friday.
