Household budgets get a reprieve at the start of the year as Meralco said it would decrease power rates for January.
The power utility said it was implementing a P0.0746 decrease per kilowatt-hour (kWh), citing the lower cost of buying electricity that it distributes to consumers.
This means that a typical household consuming 200 kWh could see a P15 decrease in its total bill.
For most of 2021, household budgets faced a series of power rate hikes from Meralco due to higher costs of buying electricity distributed to consumers.
