Mayor Vico Sotto's Newest Friend Is a Life-Sized “Panda”
You can get your own, too!
(SPOT.ph) Mayor Vico Sotto has been the talk of the town in the past weeks with policies he's implemented in Pasig City amid the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine—from setting up a mobile kitchen for frontliners to dispatching Earth-friendly rides for health workers. And being the true-blue millennial that he is, the 30-year-old public servant doesn't disappoint when it comes to posting funny posts on social media—including images of a "panda" taking over his office at the Pasig City Hall.
On March 28, he posted a photo of the city's chief transport planner, Robert Anthony Siy, cutting coupons right beside "his friend panda." Since printers nearby are closed, Sotto's team had to print the food coupons allotted for public-school students and cut them manually, the mayor explained. A concerned citizen suggested that they use a guillotine paper cutter to make the work easier. But Sotto was quick to reply, "Meron kaming dalawa kaso yung isa inuupuan pa ng panda," and matched it with a photo of a bigger panda resting on top of a table.
Augmented reality animals have been available on Google since June 1, 2019, and with most of us cooped up indoors lately, it's apparently becoming a thing again.
If you want to have your own 3D "panda," just take out your phone and search the word on Google. Apart from the search results, you'll see a box that says "Meet a life-sized giant panda up close." Click on the "View in 3D" button and follow the prompt.
You can also do this with 3D images of a lion, tiger, cheetah, shark, hedgehog, duck, wolf, angler fish—the list goes on. Looks like you don’t have to be alone during the quarantine.
