Are We Going to See Pusong Bato in Cannes?
We bet you sang that in your head!
(SPOT.ph) After our epic presence at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 and the love Weng Weng received the year after, we continue to ride the wave of the explosion of creativity in the local movie scene through Pusong Bato.
Pusong Bato, directed by Martika Ramirez Escobar, was part of the 19th Busan International Film Festival, held in October 2014. Although no official selection has been released, the film has also been listed under the Short Film Category for the 68th Cannes Film Festival.
It follows an actress from the 1970s still basking in the fading glow of the Golden Days of Philippine Cinema...sort of like The Artist, but less of an homage and more of satire. We apologize to the people who thought this had something to do with the most infectious (resuscitated) song of 2013. This has nothing to do with either Jovit Baldivino or Aimee Torres.
Still, it's cause for celebration. Over the past decade, our filmmakers have transformed the landscape of the industry from barely surviving to thriving. Our job? Keep supporting!
The 68th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13 to 24. The Jury will be presided by directors Joel and Ethan Coen. The Official Selection will be announced on April 16.
