(SPOT.ph) Here's a bit of good news today. A Filipino has been nominated for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award!
Andrea Pasion-Flores is one of roughly 60 writers in the 2015 longlist for her work entitled For Love and Kisses. Her book is a collection of seven short stories on Filipinas of all ages and from different walks of life.
The prestigious Frank O'Connor Award, named after the late author, is the "single biggest prize in the world" for a short story collection. It recognizes works from about 60 authors all over the world, with the list eventually narrowing down to five or six books. The winning author is awarded €25,000 (about P1.2 million).
The winner will be announced in mid-July.
