British singer-slash-songwriter Sam Smith has cancelled his Manila concert, less than a week before his slated performance. In a statement on his Facebook page, Smith said he felt "horrible" to have to reschedule his tour and cited "serious issues" with his vocal cords. New tour dates have yet to be announced.
Gerald Anderson on Sunday denied rumors of a romance with Janice De Belen, saying, "Hindi ko nga alam kung papatulan pa 'yan. Nakakahiya sa pamilya ni Ate Janice." He also clarified that he saw Janice as a mom and added, "Ako na lang ang i-bash, huwag na madamay 'yong ibang tao."
Lino Brocka’s Insiang will be reshown at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival under the Cannes Classics section. The 1976 film was first shown at Cannes in 1978, under the Section Parallèle/Directors’ Fortnight section, and stars Hilda Koronel and Mona Lisa.

According to the Palace, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is working with Indonesia’s Attorney-General to build a case against the drug syndicate that led to Filipina migrant worker Mary Jane Veloso's conviction. The Palace also hoped that the case will help convince the Indonesian government to spare Veloso's life.

Presidential Commission on Good Governance chair Andres Bautista has been appointed as new chief of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). Bautista was reportedly P-Noy's second choice, and was previously nominated as Supreme Court chief justice in 2012. Bautista will replace former COMELEC chief Sixto Brillantes Jr., who retired last February.
