A live-action Tinker Bell movie is happening + more things you might have missed today
A Breaking Bad-themed bar, Metro Manila is less than 50% ready for a big earthquake, and more.
(SPOT.ph) Busy day, Spotters? We quickly recap 10 things you might have missed while you were off the radar.
After Disney announced plans to adapt Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Dumbo, and other fairytales into the big screen, reports confirmed Friday that a Tinker Bell movie is in the works. Reese Witherspoon is attached to star and produce the film, which will be set in "the world of the classic novel" of Peter Pan.
If you're a fan of the Max Brooks novel or the Brad Pitt-starrer of the same name, we have good news. The sequel to World War Z will hit theaters on June 9, 2017. Pitt is set to return, this time with director J.A. Bayona. So far, no details of the plot have been released.
...in London, anyway. A pop-up bar called ABQ (named after the show's setting in Albuquerque, New Mexico) is offering a one-of-a-kind experience to Breaking Bad fans. The bar is set up in an RV where customers will be able to "cook" their own cocktails with the help of mixologists...kind of like how Walt and Jesse did. So far, ABQ will only be serving in London from July to August.
Expectant mom Marian Rivera announced on Wednesday that she has no plans of joining FHM's sexiest bash, even if she tops the magazine's poll of sexiest women. "Sabi ko huwag na, tama na. Kahit lumalabas sa FHM—kung palarin ulit ako, may bumoto ulit sa akin at maging number one ako, for example—hindi ko kayang rumampa. Mahiya naman ako sa asawa ko, buntis pa ako."
Marian and husband Dingdong Dantes are set to find out the baby's gender next week.
Reports say that Unicode Consortium (the people who develop emojis) will be debuting new emojis in June 2016. Upcoming emojis may include bacon, a selfie, an avocado, a shark, and even the musician Prince. Oh, and a black heart, if you ever want an emoji to go with your #hugot feelings.
PAGASA announced that the heat index in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon will continue to be near "danger levels," remaining within the 39 to 40-degree Celsius range this weekend. The heat index will reportedly be 40.2 degrees on Friday, 40.1 degrees on Saturday, and 39.2 degrees on Sunday.
A "heat index" is the human discomfort index that indicates what humans perceive or feel as the temperature affecting their bodies.
According to MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino, Metro Manila is less than 50% ready should a high-magnitude earthquake hit. "Kung ige-grade ko ang kahandaan natin para sa isang lindol, siguro below five [out of 10]," he said. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) earlier warned about possible impending activity from the West Valley Fault (WVF), which runs through Bulacan, Rizal, Metro Manila, Cavite, and Laguna. The WVF could possibly generate a 7.2 earthquake.
