1. Jeggings, NSFW, and other new words in the dictionary

Merriam-Webster Dictionary has added 1,700 new entries in the latest edition of their unabridged online dictionary. It now includes definitions for words like emoji, clickbait, jeggings, and even abbreviations like WTF and NSFW.

 

2. Chito Miranda and Neri Naig are expecting their first child

Another celebrity baby is on the way! Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda and actress Neri Naig announced the news on Chito's Instagram account, where he snapped a photo of a positive pregnancy test. The couple got married in December.

 

3. Chiz Escudero confirms dinner with Heart's parents

Chiz Escudero has officially confirmed having dinner with Heart and her parents last weekend. Although he didn't divulge any details, he hoped that the dinner would be a start of a relationship with her parents, saying, "Basta maganda at maayos at papunta sa tamang direksyon at sana magpatuloy 'yon."

 

4. Taylor Swift is one of Forbes' Most Powerful Women

She isn't just Maxim's Hottest Woman, she's also one of Forbes Magazine's Most Powerful Women. Taylor Swift joins the ranks of other awe-inspiring women, including Oprah, Hilary Clinton, and Angelina Jolie. The list recognizes women from all across the globe based on their "money, media momentum, spheres of influence and impact." This is the first time Taylor has made the list.

 

5. Keira Knightley welcomes first child

In Hollywood baby news, actress Keira Knightley and her husband, musician James Righton are officially parents! The couple welcomed their first child on Tuesday (May 26), but have not yet announced the baby's name or sex.

 

6. Death toll from major heatwave in India rises to 1,100

Over 1,100 people have died from a major heatwave in India, with forecasters warning that the deadly temperature would continue into next week. Many of the victims are the elderly, homeless, and construction workers.

 

7. Palace reminds Duterte about due process of law

On Wednesday, the Palace reminded Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte that "due process and rule of law should still prevail in prosecuting criminals." The statement of the Palace comes after Duterte allegedly said he might kill at least 100,000 criminals if he becomes president, and admitted his links with the Davao Death Squad (DDS).

 

8. 12 senators sign Santiago report saying BBL draft is unconstitutional

At least 12 senators have signed Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago's report saying that the Bangsamoro Basic Law should be revised to withstand scrutiny from the Supreme Court. Those who signed the report include Santiago, Committee Vice Chairman Koko Pimentel, and Acting Minority Leader Vicente Sotto III.
