We are not at war: Wardrobe gaffe sparks controversy at SEA Games
It's just that our flag is a little quirky.
(SPOT.ph) US-based athletes Eric Cray and Kayla Richardson won gold on Tuesday at the SEA Games while representing the Philippines, but people were quick to point out that there's a tiny-yet-significant mistake on their outfits: They wore our flag upside down.
Unfortunately, May 28 to June 12 are Philippine Flag Days and the error only served to fuel the scrutiny the two are under due to their American upbringing (and, as one GMA News report pointed out, accents).
In any case, Cray and Richardson are still wearing their heritage with pride, saying that it's a great honor to be on Team Pinoy. Cray won gold in the men's 100 meter sprint category, while Richardson won the same in the women's division.
