P-Noy, Mar attend El Shaddai anniversary celebration
But it has nothing to do with politics, says one Party List representative.
(SPOT.ph) For its 31st anniversary, President Noynoy Aquino delivered an ode to the charismatic religious group, El Shaddai, on Sunday, August 23 in Parañaque. According to GMA News, P-Noy reportedly came straight from an overseas trip and delivered the speech at 4 a.m., amidst the cold and drizzly weather.
We heard no complaints, though, from the President and his company, namely Defense Sec. Voltaire Gazmin and P-Noy’s endorsed successor himself, Interior Sec. Mar Roxas.
In his speech, P-Noy spoke highly of the group’s collective attitude and contribution to the “Daang Matuwid.” He also called on them to remain vigilant and enduring in tough times.
Towards the end of his speech, the President challenged the group to vote wisely and support deserving candidates for the upcoming national elections: “Sa susunod na taon, muli pong haharap sa sangandaan ang sambayanan. Nawa’y maging gabay tayo ng ating kapwa sa pagpili ng mga karapat-dapat na pinuno. Nananalig akong hindi tayo lilihis sa maganda nating nasimulan tungo sa pagkamit ng ating mga inaasam,” he said.
In that event, DILG Secretary Mar Roxas hailed the group as well.
In case anyone was wondering, YACAP Party-List Rep. Carol Jayne Lopez said that Roxas’ attendance has “no political color.”
