Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos blasts MMDA chief
"Hindi ba siya nahihiya?"
(SPOT.ph) In a recent column in Bulgar, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos questioned Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino's integrity in clinging to his post, even now that President Noynoy Aquino has transferred traffic management duties on EDSA to the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).
“At ito namang si Chairman Tolentino, hindi ba siya nahihiya sa mga nangyayari ngayon?” she wrote. Marcos criticized the MMDA’s inefficiency in finding a solution to the Metro's traffic problems. She reportedly goes on to say, “Bakit niya natitiis manatili sa puwesto gayung halos nakapinta na sa wall ang saloobin sa kanya ni P-Noy?” The PNP-HPG likewise received positive feedback from the governor, particularly in the "improvement" of traffic in the Balintawak area.
Meanwhile, PNP-HPG Director Chief Supt. Arnold Gunnacao said that some private entities expressed their intent to donate materials and equipment to the group to assist in their operations along EDSA. "We have been receiving calls and information from groups indicating their plans to donate something to us and we are really thankful," he said.
Among the items they received are 200 orange raincoats, 200 rubber boots, 200 rechargeable LED flashlights, 200 pairs of gloves, 200 face masks and six digital cameras from the Management Association of the Philippines.
