Fans of Jessy Mendiola and JM de Guzman were disappointed when the couple did not make an appearance at the Star Magic Ball. Jessy was recently caught in a controversy, after a drunken Enrique Gil reportedly hit on her during a September 4 flight to London.
According to PEP.ph, Jessy took to her Facebook page on September 12 to lament how she would have wanted to attend a "red carpet event" with someone. She wrote, "But you chose to believe in your own reality. You believed them. You chose this. You chose sadness over happiness. All I wanted was to dance with you. So I guess, I'll just dance alone for now, in my own quiet little world." Although she didn't give names, fans assumed she was referring to JM.
On the September 11 epsiode of It's Showtime, Vice Ganda surprised viewers when he mentioned rival Eat Bulaga's AlDub love team on air. During the show's segment called "Clash of Celebrities," Vice pleaded for Anne Curtis and Vhong Navarro to win, saying, "Kung kinakailangan nyong i-guest ang AlDub, gawin niyo para manalo kayo." He also did Aldub's signature pabebe wave.
In an earlier interview, Vice welcomed the "healthy competition" between the two noontime shows. Since AlDub, Eat Bulaga has consistently been conquering noontime ratings.
More than two years into their relationship, Cristine Reyes has formally announced her engagement to her non-showbiz boyfriend, Ali Khatibi. Cristine took to her Instagram account to show off her engagement ring, but did not disclose when they are set to tie the knot. Congratulations to the happy family!
Thanks to a massive opening in China (U.S. $20.1 million, to be exact), Minions' total box office earnings are now at U.S. $1.8 billion worldwide. It has even surpassed Toy Story 3 and is just below Frozen in global earnings. Minions is now the 15th biggest film ever.
David Mueller, a former Denver radio host, has filed a lawsuit against Taylor Swift. A member of her security team accused Mueller of grabbing Taylor's behind during a backstage photo session in 2013. Mueller was fired two days later. According to Taylor's publicist, Mueller’s employer was given evidence of the incident and made the decision to fire him.
Japan’s largest active volcano, Mount Aso, spewed ash and smoke up to 1,000 meters into the air Monday morning. Japan Airlines cancelled flights passing through Kumamoto after the news came out, but so far, no injuries have been reported. Mount Aso last erupted in November 2014, shooting up to 1,500 meters of volcanic mass and causing over 30 flights to be cancelled.
The Light Rail Transit-Line 1’s (LRT-1) operations and maintenance will be taken care of by Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), an association composed of Ayala Corp. and Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), for the next 32 years. Both firms described the oldest train line in Metro Manila as "severely deteriorated." LRMC said that it "is committed to improve the public’s riding experience over time and gradually bring the LRT 1 system to better operating levels (sic)."
A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted from June 5 to 8 revealed that as of the second quarter of 2015, one in four Filipinos are not eligible to vote. This means only 76% of 1,200 adult respondents were found to be registered voters with biometric data...which means about 46.6 million Filipinos are eligible. Still not registered? You have until October 31.
