Senator Alan Peter Cayetano joins the 2016 VP race
But who will take him under their wing?
(SPOT.ph) Senate Majority Floor Leader Alan Peter Cayetano announced his bid to become vice president on September 29 in Davao, according to GMA News Online.
This makes Cayetano the second hopeful for the vice presidential seat so far. Sen. Chiz Escudero announced his bid on September 17, one day after his presidential running mate, Sen. Grace Poe.
“Tunay na pagbabago, hindi panay pangako. Pinagdasal ko at pinag-isipan...I am running for Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines. I am putting my faith in God and in our people,” said Cayetano.
While he doesn't yet have a running mate, Cayetano said that he'd had a meeting with P-Noy where he reiterated his support for the president’s programs. President Aquino has endorsed former DILG Sec. Mar Roxas to be his successor.
While Roxas met with Cayetano on September 24, he earlier confirmed that he has asked Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo to be his running mate.
