(SPOT.ph) Interaksyon reports that the Liberal Party has moved its announcement of final bids for the 2016 national elections to Monday, October 5, according to LP Secretary General and Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Sato.
The party formally endorsed former DILG Sec. Mar Roxas as its official presidential candidate in a convention it held at its headquarters in Cubao on Wednesday, September 30.
Roxas’ running mate is still being finalized. It was reported that while Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo is the party’s top choice, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, who announced his bid on September 29, is also being considered.
Meanwhile, the party seems to have a surplus of senatorial hopefuls. Senate President Franklin Drilon said that the party is choosing among 15 senatoriables to round up the magic 12.
So far, there are two other presidential candidates: Vice President Jejomar Binay and Sen. Grace Poe. Binay has yet to announce his running mate, while Sen. Grace Poe has chosen Sen. Chiz Escudero to be her vice president.
