6 more people are possible "laglag bala" modus victims
It's still happening?
(SPOT.ph) According to a report by Unang Balita on Tuesday, six passengers were charged with "illegal possession of ammunition" after they were arrested for supposedly carrying bullets in their baggage at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. One of the suspects was prevented from boarding her flight after her pouch was found to contain a bullet. She insisted that it was not hers.
There have been previous incidents reported by both foreign and local passengers of the Laglag Bala Modus allegedly being carried out by NAIA Office for Transportation Security (OTS) personnel, who allegedly put bullets inside a passenger’s baggage upon inspection in the X-ray machine. It is illegal to carry bullets in flights, so NAIA personnel are said to ask for “payment” before allowing passengers found in possession of the said items to board their flights.
Four suspected NAIA X-ray screeners were suspended last week after complaints of the same scam. However, the OTS denies the existence of the reported modus.
