Is Senator Miriam Santiago running for president?
We'd vote for her.
(SPOT.ph) Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago posted a photo on her official Facebook account on October 7 saying, “I am not going to be coy. Society leaders have urged me to seek the presidency. I can rise to the occasion.” The photo shows Santiago browsing through papers with a stamp pad on her left and the caption, “#WittyWednesdays #MiriamFight.” As of this writing, it has more than 29,000 likes and 1,700 shares. Is it a hint that the senator is planning to run in the 2016 elections?

The post came days before the deadline of filing of certificates of candidacy, which is on October 16. But the quote is actually from a statement she sent to the members of the media on August 27, 2014. In July, she again expressed her interest in seeking the presidency. "When I go into remission, I might announce my candidacy for president for 2016, unless God gives me another disease," Santiago said, according to a report by GMA News Online. Santiago first ran for president in 1992 but lost to former President Fidel V. Ramos.
