Look: Rafael Nadal is in Manila for IPTL 2015!

The Philippine Mavericks also won their first match.

(SPOT.ph) In case you missed out on all the tennis excitement over the weekend, Sunday marked Day 1 of the International Premier Tennis League at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

 

 

To quickly sum up the results, the Singapore Slammers (whose players include Carlos Moya and Marcelo Melo) defeated the Japan Warriors with a final score of 29-20. Meanwhile, the Philippine Mavericks (led by Serena Williams) bested the OBI UAE Royals with a score of 29-18.

 

 

 

 

There are a total of four more upcoming matches on Monday (December 7) and Tuesday (December 8), that will include Rafael Nadal, who plays for the Micromax Indian Aces. The 14-time Grand Slam winner arrived in Manila on Saturday night, November 5, for his match.

 

 

On Sunday, Rafa conducted a tennis clinic (above) at the Colegio San Agustin in Makati City to promote the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy that's opening in Spain. According to a report from PhilStar.com, he also plans to open a tennis school for kids in the Philippines.
