WATCH: Leila de Lima's new black-and-white ad is a cinematic production
Two words: May budget!
(SPOT.ph) This is not a clip from Watchmen, and the star is not an actor. Former Justice Sec. Leila de Lima, a senatorial candidate under the Liberal Party slate for the 2016 national elections, just took political ads to a different level—with a full-scale cinematic production. Set in a time and place that doesn't look like present-day Philippines, the black-and-white ad is a battle between the good and the bad. This is how de Lima presented her slogan: “Justice without fear or favor.” Ang daming budget!
Let’s try to digest some of the most cringe-worthy scenes, shall we?
Sniffing of cocaine in advertisements—that’s not allowed...right?
And it was shown twice.
This man spanking the waitress’ butt...
...and sniffing her afterwards—excuse us while we vomit.
We were impressed already...and then we saw the bars of the cage wobble. Don’t worry, guys, you can slip out of that cage with little effort, by the looks of it.
Check out this little detail: A pair of scales from the symbol for justice glints on her glasses, not on her chest...you know, like any other superhero logo.
