(SPOT.ph) Busy day, Spotters? We quickly recap 10 things you might have missed while you were off the radar.
In an interview with Mike Enriquez on the January 27 episode of his dzBB radio show, Sen. Chiz Escudero said that he was able to throw a lavish wedding celebration with actress Heart Evangelista because of "friends and sponsors." He explained, "Dahil artista siya, maraming tumulong sa amin," and said the February 2015 wedding in Balesin was "partially sponsored" because it promoted the exclusive venue. Meanwhile, their second wedding reception at Blue Leaf Filipinas was sponsored by GMA Network. "Ang kapalit noon, billboard at tsaka photoshoot para ilagay sa magazine," said the vice presidential candidate.
In her heyday, Maggie Wilson was Binibining Pilipinas World 2007, an actress, model, and MTV VJ. She eventually left the spotlight after she tied the knot with Victor Consunji in 2010. “To be honest I found it [showbiz] really, really tiring,” she admitted. "We wanted to start a family right away. I choose my hours now, I spend more time with my son and husband." Today, Maggie runs an e-commerce business, runs several blogs, and dabbles in interior design.
One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson finally shared a picture of his super adorable baby boy. On January 27, the 24-year-old singer posted on Instagram a photo of his and ex-partner Briana Jungwirth’s little bundle of joy. “Meet my little lad, Freddie,” he wrote. Meanwhile, on Twitter he said, "I'm pleased to say my baby son was born yesterday. He is healthy and pretty amazing. I'm very happy!" Welcome to the world, little Freddie!
Bad Girl RiRi may have delayed the launch of her new album, ANTI, but the long wait is over! Rihanna released the album’s “first” single featuring rapper (and ex-boyfriend) Drake, entitled “Work,” on radio stations around the world earlier this week. Today, January 28, she announced on Twitter that the album is already available on Tidal. ANTI was executive produced by Kanye West, featuring collaborations with The Weeknd, Timbaland, and The-Dream, among others. However, two singles released in 2015 (“Bitch Better Have My Money” and “FourFiveSeconds”) are not part of the album.
Remember the scene in Skyfall when James Bond was escorted to the deserted lair of the evil villain Silva (played by Javier Bardem)? Well, now you can channel your inner 007 and get a better look at the historical location, which is actually found in Japan. The creepy island, dubbed "Ghost Island," was used for forced labor back in World War II and is now a deserted area with ghostly apartment buildings.
Airbnb users over 18 years old now have the opportunity to rent a "Netflix and Chill" room that brings the meme to life. In a game of choosing the hashtag during the Meet the Inquirer Forum on January 28, presidential aspirant Sen. Grace Poe picked #AsaKaPa for the petitioner of one of her disqualification cases, Rizalito David, and complainants Estrella Elamparo and former Sen. Kit Tatad. For P-Noy, Poe chose #MulaSaPuso because she said she was close to the President. For her rivals in the presidential race, she picked #MakeMeHappy for Mar Roxas, #TalagaLang for Vice President Jejomar Binay, and #ConfidentlyBeautifulWithAHeart for Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. Asked to choose a hashtag for MRT and traffic, Poe picked #nakakaloka.
On January 28, a part of the ceiling of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 collapsed, injuring one Filipino-American passenger and a construction worker, who were later brought to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) medical clinic. Manila International Airport Authority spokesman Dave de Castro said in a statement that the incident happened at a restaurant inside the terminal. News To Go reported that the construction worker slipped while doing repair work and had to cling to the ceiling, which caused debris to fall down. "Initial investigation shows that the materials used for the construction of that particular ceiling of the restaurant were weak," De Castro said.
