5 Memorable Showdowns From the PiliPinas Vice Presidential Debate 2016

There was Cayetano vs Marcos, Robredo vs Escudero, and more.

(SPOT.ph) Accusations were hurled, allegations were denied, and programs were defended. It was an exciting show on Sunday, April 10 at the Vice Presidential Debate 2016 at the University of Santo Tomas, with Sen. Bongbong Marcos taking most of the jabs. Let’s see what went down in the most memorable face-offs from the #PiliPinasDebates2016.

Robredo vs Marcos

Administration candidate Leni Robredo asks Bongbong Marcos to return the “hidden wealth” the Marcos family allegedly pilfered from the country’s coffers.

Robredo: Alam mo Pia (Hontiveros), ‘yong apology voluntarily given ‘yon.

Marcos may have answered in so many words, but his sentiments were summed up in one sentence:

Marcos: I cannot give what I do not have.

Robredo vs Escudero

Sen. Chiz Escudero wants to get rid of corruption by eliminating politicians' discretion over the Priority Development Assistance Fund, better known as the PDAF. Robredo shot back with a question:

Fun fact: Janet Lim Napoles' final list of lawmakers involved in the PDAF scandal included Escudero, Marcos, Cayetano, and Honasan. All have denied Napoles' claim, and Marcos has insisted that his name was later cleared.

Trillanes vs Cayetano

Sen. Sonny Trillanes took a jab at the Duterte-Cayetano plan to eradicate crime in three to six months.

Trillanes: Huwag tayong magbolahan dito, kasi it’s not fair to the people.

Cayetano vs Marcos

Marcos insists that there is no basis for the accusations of their alleged ill-gotten wealth.

He continued to address the issue with:

Bongbong.

Cayetano also took a swipe at Marcos for the latter’s alleged involvement in the P2-billion pork barrel scam.

The issue of political dynasties was also raised. Marcos stated:

Latching on this train of thought, Cayetano said:

Cayetano: Can I have my one minute? O pati 'yon nanakawin mo pa rin?

Marcos also addressed Cayetano’s partnership with presidentiable Rodrigo Duterte:

He was being playful. Pero ang sinabi po niya all over the country, ‘pag hindi mo iboboto si Alan, huwag mo ‘kong iboto.’

Trillanes vs Honasan

Trillanes drags Vice President Binay into the fray in response to Gringo Honasan, who said:

Honasan: Mga seryosong issue ito ha, katiwalian, PDAF, DAP, corruption. Saan ito dedesisyunan? Sa ganitong sitwasyon ba o sa tamang korte? Ano ang nangyari sa Bill of Rights? No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, and property without due process of law. Sa tamang panahon, tamang sitwasyon, tamang korte.

Trillanes: With all due respect, but I would have to disagree kasi ‘yon po ang linya ni Vice President Binay palagi.
