Commuters, you have the right to feel impatient with the MRT
Our very shrewd DOTC Secretary said so himself.
(SPOT.ph) In a rare move, Transportation and Communications Sec. Joseph Emilio Abaya has owned up to the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 glitch which stranded loads of commuters along EDSA on April 25, Monday morning.
“No excuse na nangyari ito. Siyempre sagabal sa trabaho, but at least tingin ko we've lessened the glitches as compared to a year ago. The people deserve better services, much lesser interruptions, and more trains,” Abaya told GMA News.
Abaya added that the public was entitled to feel impatient although he also partly blamed the previous administration for the MRT blunders.
“May karapatan talaga sila mainip di ba? Etong bagong train na ito, panahon pa lang ni GMA (Gloria Macapagal Arroyo) middle of 2000 nandyan na ang pangangailangan. Tao ang maghuhusga na ito palabas na at magagamit natin,” he said.
Abaya has been publicly criticized for his supposed incompetence in handling the problems plaguing the MRT since assuming his Cabinet position.
Currently, the government is testing and adding trains to the dilapidated MRT-3 system and is also expecting a total of 42 light rail vehicles to add to the fleet by 2017.
