Trillanes brings up the "I" word with Duterte
I as in "Impeachment"
(SPOT.ph) Sen. Antonio Trillanes called a press conference on May 16 to respond to presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte's questioning of his involvement in talks with China over the West Philippine Sea, stating that Duterte's comment that "we lost Scarborough Shoal" could be the basis for an impeachment complaint. He insisted that Duterte’s claim could easily weaken Philippines’ argument and saying so is giving China license to occupy the territory.
Days before the election, Duterte questioned Trillanes' dealings with China over the disputed islands in 2012. "The last time he went there, we lost the Scarborough Shoal, which is ours because it is within our exclusive economic zone...I don’t believe he went there on his own without the blessing of [President Benigno] Aquino," he said in a statement.
During the third PiliPinas Debates 2016 on April 24, Duterte had claimed that should China insist on their ownership of the West Philippine Sea and Scarborough Shoal, he would ask to be dropped off on the island and would plant a Philippine flag, then tell them: "This is ours and do what you want with me."
