Expect hellish traffic along Commonwealth Avenue until midnight
Are you ready for rush hour?
(SPOT.ph) Motorists who are taking Commonwealth Avenue are advised to be extra patient today as a portion of the highway is currently closed due to a medical mission by religious group Iglesia ni Cristo. Their tents are set up along the main road from Sandiganbayan to Litex.
According to GMA News, the Metro Manila Development Authority has implemented a re-routing scheme in which all vehicles traveling to Fairview will have to take a right turn at the Sandiganbayan and exit at Litex. Public transportation, on the other hand, are given two counterflow lanes to allow them to pick up and drop off commuters along the closed area. This re-routing is effective for 24 hours until midnight of May 18.
Earlier today, a few commuters and concerned citizens aired their frustration on social media. They either got stuck in traffic or were forced to walk under the heat of the sun.
Called "Lingap sa Mamamayan," the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) medical-dental mission includes blood and urine examination, pregnancy test, ultrasound, chest X-ray, ECG, circumcision, and dental check up. The group will also give out shoes and bags. It is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. today, May 17.
