Duterte is considering a three-child policy for his family planning program

He says it's about time we do something about overpopulation.

Family Planning

(SPOT.ph) Presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte is pondering whether to impose a policy that would limit the number of children a family can have to three.

Duterte said the three-child policy would be included in his administration’s family planning program if it pushes through, CNN Philippines reported.

According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Duterte also believes that the Catholic Church's teachings on family planning are no longer relevant, saying "I am a Christian but I am a realist and we have to do something about overpopulation."

Duterte has also expressed his willingness to work with the House of Representatives to have his policies immediately enacted into law. Some of the policies he wants are the revival of the death penalty, a nationwide curfew for minors, and a liquor and smoking ban in public areas. He also said he will adopt outgoing President Benigno Aquino III’s economic policies while getting the best Cabinet members to maintain the country’s stellar economic performance. Duterte intends to keep his campaign promise of curbing crime within three to six months of assuming the presidency.
