Rep. Geraldine Roman to deliver keynote address at Asia Society leadership forum in New York
She also happens to be the first transgender politician in the Philippines.
(SPOT.ph) Rep. Geraldine Roman has defied all the odds, becoming the country's first elected transgender politician after securing a seat in the First District of Bataan in the May 9 elections. Now, she has been invited to deliver a keynote address at Asia Society’s 8th Annual Diversity Leadership Forum on June 10 in New York City. The Forum is a two-day conference on best practices in corporate diversity, the global market, and leadership. Every year, the forum brings together chief executive officers, and business managers of Fortune 1000 companies, among others.
Roman studied at the Ateneo de Manila University in grade school and high school, and then at the University of the Philippines for her undergraduate degree. She took up journalism at the Universidad del País Vasco (University of the Basque Country) in Leioa, Spain, under a scholarship and worked as a senior editor at the Spanish News Agency. She speaks fluent Spanish, French, Italian, and has two masters' degrees. She returned to Bataan in 2012.
