Coming Soon: Free Internet at the MRT

If you're driving along EDSA, you might benefit from it, too.

MRT Free Internet

(SPOT.ph) Good news, commuters! According to GMA News, the Department of Transportation and Communications has signed a memorandum of understanding with Globe which allows the telco to set up wireless Internet infrastructure at the Metro Rail Transit's 13 stations along EDSA. This means that commuters can have free Internet access while on the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), for up to 30 minutes every day, with additional fees incurred beyond the time limit according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer

Globe SVP Joel Agustin said the benefit of this project extends beyond train commuters, because it also affects Internet users who happen to be near the MRT stations. “This partnership is a milestone that is expected to improve the experience of the public riding the MRT, including those in the communities surrounding the MRT stations,” he said. The project is expected to be part of Globe’s five-year infrastructure program which aims to expand its network coverage to areas with weak or intermittent Internet signals.
