1. AlDub go to Italy in the first trailer of their new movie

The first teaser trailer for Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza's new movie has finally been released. The film, Imagine You and Me, was mostly filmed in Italy, and revolves around the romance between their characters, Gara (Mendoza) and Andrew (Richards). The film is set for a July 13 release, and we hope it'll be a lot better than My Bebe Love.

 

2. Grammys to recognize streaming-only releases

It's official: the Grammys will now be recognizing music solely released via streaming apps like Spotify and Apple Music. For a streaming-only album to be eligible for the awards in February 2017, it must have been released between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016. They should also have been available on a major, paid-subscription streaming service at a "high-definition quality comparable to that of a compact disc."

 

 

3. You need to hear these '80s reworks of Justin Bieber's music

If you have a penchant for '80s pop music and Justin Bieber (we won't judge), these musical reworks are right up your alley. A Canadian artist named Tronicbox took to SoundCloud to add an '80s twist to Bieber's biggest hits from his album, Purpose. The songs also came with hilarious '80s-themed album art, so you can enjoy looking at those while secretly jamming to the music.

 

4. Wicked is headed to theaters...in 2019

The long-awaited movie adaptation of the Broadway hit Wicked is finally coming, but you're going to have to wait a little longer to see it. Universal Pictures has announced that it will release the film adaptation of the Tony-winning musical on December 20, 2019. Original cast members Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth have yet to confirm whether they'll be part of the film.

 

5. Wizarding World raises wands in honor of Orlando victim

Luis Vielma, a 22-year-old employee at the theme park The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, was one of the victims of the Orlando massacre on June 12. In true Harry Potter fashion, co-workers and friends gathered in front of the Hogwarts Castle and raised their wands in honor of "the fallen wizard." "Tonight we raise our wands to one of the bravest and best Gryffindors the world has ever known. Tonight we raise our wands to Luis Vielma."

 

6. Agriculture secretary dares National Irrigation Authority execs to quit

"Anybody in government who does not share President Duterte’s vision for the Filipino farmer is free to leave and find another job," incoming Agriculture Sec. Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol said in a Facebook post. He was reacting to the statement of the National Irrigation Authority that the incoming president's promise of free irrigation to farmers would "adversely affect the operations of the agency."

 

7. Phone call between P-Noy and Duterte was 'pleasant'

President Benigno Aquino III said that he had a "pleasant conversation" with President-elect Rodrigo Duterte over the phone on Thursday night, June 16. It was their first conversation since the latter won the 2016 presidential elections. The outgoing president told members of the Malacañang Press Corps over lunch on Friday, June 17 that he reiterated his offer to be of assistance to the incoming president.

 

8. Duterte's son caught speeding

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's eldest son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, was caught speeding on Friday morning, June 17. According to Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office chief Rhodelio Poliquit, he was driving at around 55 kilometers per hour near Barangay Bangkal which has a 40 kilometer-per-hour speed limit. He will have to pay the P2,078 fine and settle his traffic violation within three days.
